That said, so far all the samples and tracks of this year's upcoming albums were rather unconvincing. BT, Massive Attack, the Hybrid single, UNKLE... they are ok-ish, but nothing that makes me press that preorder button repeatedly and as early as possible. Either I am still spoiled from last year's splendid album bonanza and the collective bar-rising, or they are really simply average so far.

Any shell suit works for me...

Good work - really exciting... And from everything we've heard so far, this album will be really special...

Randy.

i know, and i agree. i was merely suggesting that the vibes enticed me somewhat, even as a nu-prog non-enthusiast.

not sure on the first count. but it's possible they have some sort of non-exclusive deal for multiple mix CDs with hope, however, considering the soundsystem comp was numbered as "vol. 01" (never a true sign of anything but optimism, though).

as for the y4k series, i do believe it's gone the way of the dodo. the last comp came out in 2007, although distinct'ive/y4k did put out a couple random singles last year.

Empire is a far better name than $50 Pistol!

I'm really happy with what I've heard so far, it seems to indicate a more mature sound. Like the fact they've got a quality, permanent female vocalist who appears to be fully involved in the production side of things.

Also, the 'best work we've done' claim seems to be a genuine one rather than just a soundbyte. Happy days

at first i found it a bit odd for one to admit that they've recycled a bunch of older stuff from film scores, etc. for their new album. but from what we have heard, i still have hope that they were able to develop those bits into full-on mayhem.
